Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you say ‘Nairobi’ only on location when the job is remote?
We use Nairobi as the location for administrative purposes and to indicate where the mandatory on-site training will take place (at Kofisi, Eden Square, Westlands). While the job itself is 100% remote, you must attend and complete the required 2 to 4-week on-site training program in Nairobi before beginning your remote work.
What is the monthly net pay? Are there benefits?
Athena, as an official and legal entity in Kenya, offers competitive pay and benefits, but specific details about net pay depend on the role and are discussed during the hiring process.
Why do the Atheneans in the Phillipines get preferential treatment?
All Atheneans, regardless of location, are treated equally. Processes may vary slightly to align with local regulations and cultural nuances, but we ensure fairness, transparency, and consistency across the organization.
People say ‘if you can’t work under pressure, don’t try Athena’ - what does that mean?
Executive Partners (XPs) at Athena empower, enable, and serve as the trusted confidants of the world’s top CEOs and founders. It’s a rigorous yet immensely rewarding, long-term role in a growth-driven environment, where we help clients achieve their ambitious goals. Success in this role demands adaptability, strong problem-solving skills, fierce ambition, and a proactive mindset. While challenging, it offers exceptional rewards and outstanding growth opportunities.
Is it a full or part-time job?
All roles at Athena are full-time. Part-time roles are not currently available.
How long after training does it take to be paired?
Pairing timelines vary based on client demand and matching suitability. While some candidates are paired quickly, others may spend more time in the matching pool.
How long does training last? Training happens from what time to what time?
Training typically lasts 2 to 4 weeks, with sessions scheduled during standard business hours. Specific schedules are shared during onboarding.
What’s the step by step process from application to being hired?
Submit your application online at jobs.athena.com and complete the required assessments. If you pass, you’ll be invited to an interview. Upon success, you’ll receive a formal offer and begin training. After completing training, you’ll enter the matching pool to be paired with a client—either a CEO, founder, or top management.
Why do you not give reapplying candidates a chance?
Reapplying is allowed after a specified period, provided you meet the updated requirements. We encourage candidates to check our guidelines before reapplying.
What qualities/qualifications are recruitment looking for in a candidate?
We look for individuals who are adaptable, proactive, and highly ambitious, with strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ideal candidates have 2 to 3 years of experience supporting high-level executives, are tech-savvy, and thrive in fast-paced environments.
You say you offer paid training yet we have to wait to get partnered to get the pay. Why?
Athena compensates trainees after pairing to ensure alignment with our client-first approach. This structure allows us to maintain sustainability and maximize the quality and long-term success of matches for both the Athenean and client.
Why do I have to resign before training yet after training getting hired is not guaranteed?
We understand that it may be a significant decision for our applicants. Resignation is not required before training begins, but full commitment during training is necessary to succeed in the program and subsequent steps.

We strive to respond to as many inquiries as possible. For specific or urgent concerns, please use our official communication channels on LinkedIn, Instagram or Tiktok.
Why is training so hard, it's like you set us out for failure?
Our training is designed to challenge applicants to ensure they are fully prepared to handle the responsibilities of supporting top CEOs and founders. While it may feel difficult at times, the process aims to develop the skills, resilience, and adaptability needed to succeed in a fast-paced, high-level role. The goal is to equip Atheneans with the tools to thrive and make a meaningful impact for both the individual and the client.
There are way too many rejections, do you actually hire?
Yes, we hire regularly. Our process ensures we select candidates who align with our values and meet the requirements for success in the role.
Why does matching take so long?
Matching depends on client demand and suitability. While we aim to pair candidates quickly, ensuring the right fit for both parties can take time.
